Sunday Blessings - Dave Salmoni

This week Sunday Blessings is devoted to Dave Salmoni, an animal trainer and host of multiple Animal Planet/Discovery Channel series and specials, including Living with Tigers, Rogue Nature, Into the Lion's Den, and Predator vs. Prey. His most recent series Into the Pride had him living with a pride of lions for six months in order to.... um.... prove something? Look, I'm sure there's a good reason for him living with these big cats, but I don't exactly know what that is, since it's not really the words coming out of his mouth that draw my attention. Let's face it, the reason Salmoni has been growing in popularity is his body, which is often on full display, and adorable nature of seeing this tough guy play around with the big kitties. Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel are fully aware of the beefcake aspect and have actually been promoting the series with videos of him showering with a bucket of water. Hey, it's a smart marketing strategy. It's also nice to know Salmoni is aware and appreciative of his gay fan base, remarking in an Advocate.com interview, "I feel like my gay fans are the most appreciative. I get lots of e-mails from them, and they're not shy. A young girl may say, 'Hey, I really like you, you're kinda cute,' whereas a gay guy will be like, 'Hey, take your shirt off more and you'll get better ratings.'"Amen.

Make It Two Weeks in a Row

For a second week in a row, Bear Grylls has exposed himself on the Discovery Channel's Man vs. Wild. Is there now any doubt the network and Bear are completely aware of why a good portion of the audience tunes in? I could just really do without all the animal killing, which seems to have increased on the series. Seriously where's the ASPCA? Anyway, here are some pics from the episode:

Bear Once Again on Display

The season premiere of Man vs. Wild aired last on the Discovery Channel, and host/adventurer Bear Grylls was once again "forced" to strip bare to survive wading through a freezing cold river. If there's one thing I've leared from the series, it's that if you take off all your clothes, you'll survive anything. Seriously though, I'm now convinced Bear Grylls, the producers and the network realize a good portion of the audience tune in to see Bear's bare bottom. The sequence occured near the end of the episode, but the show kept indicating he would strip, so as to make sure people stay tuned. When Bear did bare all, it wasn't a brief glimpse. Essentially his ass was all up in the camera for a prolonged period of time. Of course, his frontals were blurred, because, after all, we do not want to frighten the children. Lets just hope Bear continues to put himself on display this year, because last season lacked skin, decreasing my interest in the series.
Here are some pics from last night's episode:

"End" of the Week - Bear Grylls

Sure, I may have mentioned Bear Grylls' bottom in previous posts, but I believe the Discovery Channel star's backside is worthy of multiple discussions.

Discovery Channel's The Colony

If you're not watching anything on Tuesday nights at 10 pm, you should definitely check out the Discovery Channel's new reality series The Colony. Essentially an "experiment" in which ten people try to survive in a post-apocalyptic America, the series features engaging participants from various professions trying to create a society without much of our modern conveniences, the most entertaining aspect being how quickly these participants adapt to their circumstances, as if the situation was real. They already have genuine fear and anger toward the fake bike gang/marauders who pretend to break into the colony to steal supplies. The show also benefits, like any other good reality series, from male eye candy. George, the doctor, and Joey, the contractor/ex-con are both worthy of some attention. Anyway, I really recommend the show. It's a hundred times better than Bravo's Tuesday night reality programs, Miami Social and NYC Prep. The casts of both of those series need to be put on a bus and driven over a cliff. Yeesh.

Everybody Wants to See Bear Grylls' What?.

By far the most popular search that leads people to my blog, is "bear grylls penis." From Texas and India to Germany, Australia and the Phillipines, a lot of people are searching for Bear Grylls' penis. I'm sorry to disappoint people, since I don't have pictures of it. I guess my blog comes up on the google search, as result of a previous Sunday Blessings post, devoted to Bear, where I discussed inconsistency of the Discovery Channel's stance on nudity. They'll blur out Bear's genitals but show those of tribal Indians. Anyway I'm sorry if people are disappointed, but to alleviate the pain, here's a picture of Bear's adorable backside.

Why Is the Discovery Channel Tempting Me?

They keep bringing in attractive guys to host shows. First there was Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs, then came Bear Grylls on Man vs. Wild and now they have Jeff Lieberman on Time Warp and escape artist Jonathan Goodwin on One Way Out, and somehow, they've all wound up shirtless on their series. Why Discovery Channel? Why are you tempting me with cute guys to watch your programs? Very sneaky!

Sunday Blessings - Mike Rowe

Last week's edition of Sunday Blessings featured Bear Grylls of the Discovery Channel's Man vs. Wild, and I thought I'd follow up with a post devoted to another sexy host of a Discovery program, Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs. Ok, yes I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but i find the guy incredibly hot. Mike's kind of got the whole daddy thing going for him, which again is not for everyone, but I can certainly appreciate an attractive man who's approaching middle-age. You have to at least give him props for being comfortable enough with his body, and it is a good body, particulary his chest, to appear shirtless in a number of episodes. The show features Mike performing various jobs, predominately ones that involve him being covered in some kind of filth, which is why it's called Dirty Jobs, but even after seeing him covered in ash, mud, animal manure or worse, I think all he needs is a shower and then I'd still hit it. Hell, if it's just mud he's covered with, I wouldn't even wait for him to take a shower, because sometimes being dirty can be fun. Anyway, the funniest thing I ever saw on his show was an episode in which he was working at a reptile or alligator farm/zoo, and one of the zoo's workers had to jump atop an alligator so they could drag it out of the water. The worker told Mike to take his shirt off and then jump on top of him, once he's on top of the alligator. So the guy jumps on the gator, and Mike takes off his shirt and jumps onto the guy's back. At this point Mike and any viewer realized there was absolutely no reason for him to take his shirt off. It was as if this zoo worker had some repressed homoerotic crush on Mike and thought this was a way to trick Mike into getting on top of him half-naked. Although, really who could blame him. I want Mike shirtless on top of me, though pantless would be better. Praise Jesus!

Sunday Blessings - Bear Grylls

This will only be a brief Sunday Blessings, a quick Praise Jesus for this man. The post would have been about Jon Hamm, after having watched him on Saturday Night Live last night, easily the best host they've had this season, but since I previously did a Sunday Blessings devoted to him I needed to use someone else. Therefore, today's Sunday Blessings is devoted to Bear Grylls, host of the Discovery Channel's Man vs. Wild. His show basically involves him being stranded in some desolate place in the world and demonstrating how a person could survive if they found themself in a similar situation. The entertaining part of the show is Grylls finding odd reasons to get naked on camera. He has to cross a river, he gets naked, he has to warm up, he gets naked, he wants to roll in mud, he gets naked, a bear is chasing him, he gets naked, etc... The Discovery Channel actually shows his bare ass, which I got to give it credit for, but of course they blur out the frontals. Now a small gripe, the channel has shown male genitals before. Anytime there's a program about Indian tribes in the Amazon, a penis is shown, so why can't they show Bear Grylls's? For some reason tribal nudity is okay. Uh, a penis is a penis - if you show one show them all! Hah! Just my two cents.
